The Sincere Traffic Constable

On one cloudy Monday morning, as he hurried for his job interview in the Hi-tech City, Suraj Babus bike was stopped at the Yosufguda check post by a traffic constable standing in the middle of the road like a football goal keeper waiting to stop a penalty kick. Following the protocol , like a server at a Udipi restaurant reading out the menu - Idli, vada , Dosa , Mysore masala dosa, Rava dosa, Bisi bela bath , Kesari bath the constable quickly read the list of required documents and asked Suraj to pay a fine of 100 Rupees without receipt ,500 Rupees with receipt for each missing document.                                   Suraj Sorry, I do not have cash on me. Without uttering another word the constable got on to the bike. Sitting behind Suraj he asked him to follow his directions. Shocked, Suraj thought his bike is be...

Consultancy Guest House - Part 1

Welcome to the Jurassic Park The New Jersey sun’s rays passed through the window blinds and pierced my eyes open. Next to me are my new HP laptop, cell phone and some Mother India calling cards. I share this master bed room with Anand Naidu and Pavan Theodore. Anand got married recently and is desperate to crack an interview and bring his wife from India. Pavan on the other hand has seen life and has built his fortress of philosophy which he unveils every night after the first round of beers. He is here only to clear his home loan which is breathing its last breath in India. On Pavans left is the closet where we dumped our check in baggages. Next to it is the rest room .It is my fourth day in this country and I am getting used to the no bucket no mug hot and cold water showers. As I walk towards the living room rubbing my eyes, the room on my right is the devils bedroom. Deepak Patel lives there alone, not because he snores bad but because of his weird habits. He wakes up...

Three - Not Idiots But Software Engineers

In the beautiful garden city of Bangalore live three good friends. Hailing from the same village they are not just friends but best friends from school days who shared the success and cigarettes, punishments and beedis. It took them two years to realize that job search unlike college is a drainage. Recently one after the other they got in to a small software company. Seven thousand rupees is the salary and not a paisa more. On the other hand their monthly expenses are ten thousand rupees and not a paisa less. They can’t ask their parents to help. Not because they are shy or they feel responsible but because of their build up in their village an year ago. As per their parents they work for Oracle, TCS and Microsoft. If they have to visit home only one of them will go at a time. Not because their presence at work is so important that the projects get delayed. The catch here is - if one of them has to go home the other two should donate their go...

Mission Parrys : Bill Gates buys a PS3

Bill Gates concludes his inspiring Purdue University Speech with an anti piracy statement on how well they have worked with the FBI in controlling piracy. Soon an Indian student pops up and shouts - You are not only barking up the wrong tree but the wrong forest Mr. Gates. While the Professors are shocked and surprised the students burst in to laughter. As the security gets closer to the Student, Gates shocked but not embarrassed asks them to stop and give the student a mike. Random Indian Student:  My name is Gandhi Reddy Mr. Gates. I am a huge fan of yours and Microsoft. No matter how sick I am I never ate an Apple, no matter how bad my OS sucks I never bought a MAC. You should visit Parrys Corner in Chennai, India to understand how freely and creatively piracy works. It is there where you can track back to the roots of this evil spread across other countries and fight them. And only then can you claim that you have control over it. Taking up the challeng...

The guy who married his GPS

Abhimanyu or as his frieds call him Abhi is a 5 foot 4 inch tall(he thinks so) decent looking guy. He recently finished his masters in electrical engineering from UPenn and works as a Game Developer in Newark,Delaware. As a kid he hated chocolates and ate chalk pieces and now he loves long drives but hates technology. So he is a close friend of Google Maps and no relative to IPhones.Everytime he drives to Jersey he ends up in Time Square and on his way back he ends up half way to the White House. Misses destinations just by a few 100 miles. He strictly used to follow his three step KBC (Indian Version of the Millionaire) philosophy in this order. 50-50 - If you miss an exit, takes the next one and instead of heading back like everyone else just keeps going and you will reach your destination sooner or later. Ask the Audience - People at the Gas Stations and Service Areas. Phone a friend - And finally call our friends who have nothing to do on weekends and desperately wait...

Venkatesh who works as a clerk at the municipal office has spent half of his life and money in helping others and today he is in need of two...
