The Highway lesson for life

Like every other morning as I made a left turn on to 202 south to work , like every other  morning there was a car moving slow on the left lane and overtaking this Nissan were several other cars. As I followed the herd overtaking him, he cruised through narrowly missing another car on the right lane raced through the traffic while staring at me and squeezed back in between two cars on to the left lane .Instead of playing an imaginary confrontation and racing with him I have just let him go. I have later managed not to talk or think about this with others at work and build up the whirlpool of negative thoughts for the day. As silly as it sounds little things like these when we let our mind play at work and personal life will result in wasting  our valuable time. Keeping the positive thought process going, I had a great day fixing issues at work and doing my presentations in the evening. As i practice patience i realize the power of the attitude - "Everyone is her...

Service With Love This Moment

There is no limit to how much we can keep for ourselves and how much material we accumulate over time. But the more we accrue the less space there is for inner peace and spiritual upliftment.I have read that somewhere in California some morning’s people pay tolls for the ten cars behind them. What a way to kick start our day. There are no strict rules out there on when to serve and how to serve, but no matter where we are on this planet there are always people we can serve. Drop the change in the donations box as we pay for our morning coffee or breakfast. Share a happy moment in our personal or work life by taking our colleagues or friends for a treat. Share our joy by greeting the person that cleans our trash at work with a gift card every festival season. Remember and contribute one percent of our trips cost to feed the tiny stomachs that wait for a few grains of rice around the world, every time we go on an all inclusive vacation Send out a check to a non profi...

How to deal with difficult people

As humans we all have unique brains. We grow up loading these brains with beliefs and knowledge from what we perceive and experience. When we communicate with someone ,we use this knowledge to judge and see how well they fit in our life as a relative, friend, colleague etc.We cannot generalize as we alone have the capacity to change given the time and circumstances. But we need to understand the two types of people that we face in this journey and make our choices consciously  to get closer to our goals. The Good Guys They are our mentors and supporters/friends. These are the people who will and have stayed with you throughout the roller coaster times of our lives. They know what we really are and will always coordinate and help. They care for us and will think about our future more than we do. Never ignore them but pay attention to their every word .When you have to do something against their advice, explain them patiently why you are doing it that way. Thank t...

Life-Space Analysis and Goal Setting

Life happens in seven days, Monday to Sunday. Whatever you do, however you feel it happens with in these seven day cycles. Without a goal it will just be the same seven days that keep coming back. So, goal setting is the first step to begin your conscious life. The CEO of a Silicon Valley start-up and a yogi in the Himalayas both has goals for their life. While the CEOs goal is for his company to make it to the fortune five hundred list, the yogi wants to realize god. Whether they achieve their goals or not they know what they are going to do each day when they wake up. The entrepreneur is busy finding new clients and the Yogi is busy mastering yoga practices and reading spiritual scriptures. Understanding the context of our life will help us come up with the goals which when achieved will positively move it forward. At a high level, our life context can be divided in to the following areas. Work Family Health Wealth Social Spiritual Do a life-space ana...

Say NO To Crazy Competition

Before i dive in to the personal development topics like facing fear, goal setting ,belief system etc i felt like writing on what i call Crazy Competition which has become a menace to our lives. As we tend to look at others to make a decision for us and our kids our thought process quickly narrows down killing our individuality.    Families are loosing health and wealth trying to run a  business or buy a fortress only due to peer pressure or to maintain status. As the job markets weaken and real-estate markets crash they fall in to a abysmal of depression. What is the use of having a palace if you have to live all alone?.Isn't it like building a fortress on a cemetery? What is the use of having a all variety breakfast, when you have to think twice before adding sugar to your coffee? Yes kids need activity. But tennis , dance, karate on the weekdays and gymnastics and swimming on the weekends. Do they really deserve this exhaustive schedule which also makes...

Live life your way consciously

In between every sunrise and sunset a day in our life flies by. Like a river that flows not caring for the beautiful flowers that fall in it and the industrial junk that gets in to it, time and life do not stop or wait no matter how excited you are or how dejected you feel. We can go with the flow. We can swim against the flow and take the blow. Or become self aware, figure out what we want to be and change our current situation to make the best out of this life. Beating the current average life span, let’s assume that we are going to live for hundred years. Out of those hundred the first twenty will go in to childhood while we were pampered by our parents and disciplined by our teachers and that crazy teenage. Fifty years in sleep. Yes unless you work for an IT firm in the day and drive a cab in the night, you sleep half the time. The rest thirty years is when we actually live reacting to the internal urges and external forces. Like a bug struck on it’s back struggling to get back ...
